Description

General: Native to China, Manchuria, and Korea, Acer barbinerve, very uncommon in cultivation, is a small tree reaching around 30 feet in height.

Leaves: Bright yellow fall color. Pubescent veins on the undersides of leaves, hence its Latin name barbinerve, which means "bearded veins".

Experience at Great Hill
We have never had a problem with these trees except that people do not know what they are or have to offer. With increased education and information on this species, Acer barbinerve may become more widely used in landscapes.


Attributes
Overall, a nice tree, with bright red stems and yellow fall foliage, which could add nice color to any landscape. It is a rare, trouble free tree that would make a fine addition to any plant collector's landscape.
